England Eastman Kent Archangeli genealogy family history

Web Design

During my genealogy search, I found it necessary to figure out how to design a web site to show everyone just what I have found and to make new family tree connections with distant cousins.

I began learning how to design sites in 1998 while I was pregnant with Austin, my 2nd child (I now have 4 children). This genealogy site was actually my first attempt at web site design. The goal was to make a simple web site that my kids could appreciate when they were older. This quickly got out of control and the web design obsession took over. What was to be a simple web site became a full-blown genealogy site with several hundred pages and over 30,000 links! (Note: although the content remains mostly the same as it did in 1998, the site has been redesigned a few times as my knowledge of web design has increased.)

The next projects were web sites for each child, then a site for the whole family, then sites for the grandparents, friends, neighbors, acquaintences, people off the street ... and so on, you get the picture! I began designing sites for anyone I could, just because I was having so much fun!

In February of 2001 when we put our house up for sale, I spent countless hours on the Internet searching for homes and working with my real estate agent to try to sell our own home. Then the revelation came ... Why do so few real estate agents have a good web site? I started looking into this question and discovered that there was a great need for professional, affordable real estate web sites. A perfect match! Real estate agents need web sites, I create them! And so I created my first web design company that was called Realtor Designs. After about 2 years of designing only real estate sites, I decided it was time for a change and expanded into small business web sites. I soon added churches and non-profit organizations into the picture and created a company called 7 Second Web Design.

In 2002, we opened a children's fitness franchise called The Little Gym and getting it off the ground took most of my free time. So, the web design business didn't see much action for about a year. However, in 2003, I was back in action! I renamed the company Robyn's Web Design and I only design about one site every few months. That way I can really put the personal touch on every site. The bottom line is that I design web sites because it's fun and because I am good at it. If you are interested in web design, please visit Robyn's Web Design.

Below are a few of the web sites I have designed over the years.

4 Utah Kidz - A resource for the kids and families of Utah.

Epets.ca - A huge Canadian pet information source with over 2,000 pages. It's a great resourse for pet owners ... even if you don't live in Canada!

Kingswood.ca - An information site for the residents of Kingswood subdivision.

Little Rock Kids- A web site dedicated to the children and families of Central Arkansas.

Taylor's Angels - Created for a friend's daughter who passed away at age 4 of leukemia. Taylor's Angels raises money for other families dealing with childhood cancer.

Willow Lake Real Estate - A Chicago, Illinois real estate broker.
