Tanner Kid Dictionary These are Nick's first words and sentences as recorded by his Mommy (Robyn) from birth to 24 months.
ah-ah-ah (23 months) adj: having a relatively high temperature (Hot, hot, hot!)
ba (15
months)
n: a spherical body used in a game or sport (ball). See also bow. ba-ba (20 months) n: the ball used in playing basketball (a court game between two teams of usually five players each who score by tossing an inflated ball through a raised goal. See also ba-bow. ba-bow (23 months) n: the ball used in playing basketball (a court game between two teams of usually five players each who score by tossing an inflated ball through a raised goal. See also ba-ba. Ba-ee (17 months) n: Barney - the purple dinosaur. Nick's favorite TV show until about 19 months he started liking Teletubbies and stopped watching Barney. ba-mm (20 months) n: an electrical appliance for cleaning (as floors, carpets, tapestry, or upholstered work) by suction (vacuum cleaner).
ba-poo (19
months) n: bodily waste discharged through the
anus (poo-poo). See also boo-poo. Bi huuu! (22 months) sentence: Big hug! Like the Teletubbies always say. boo-poo (23 months) n: bodily waste discharged through the anus (poo-poo). See also ba-poo. Boo! (23 months) excl: an expression used in a game in which one repeatedly hides his face or body and pops back into view exclaiming "Peekaboo!" bow (23 months) n: a spherical body used in a game or sport (ball). See also ba. bye (17 months) interj: used to express farewell (short for goodbye). Bye boo-poo. (22 months) sentence: Bye poo-poo. Nick says this whenever someone flushes the toilet. (Even if you flush it and there is nothing in it.) Bye see car. (19 months) sentence: Bye, see you later car. Said when a car drives away.
ca-ee (23 months) n: a vehicle moving on wheels. See also ca and room. ch (17 months) n: a small thin slice of food usually fried (potato chip). chs (18 months) n: puffed corn treat that has cheese flavoring (cheesie). Nick's favorite snack. cl (15 months) n: a device other than a watch for indicating or measuring time commonly by means of hands moving on a dial (clock). da-ee (14 months) n: a male parent (dad). da-n (22 months) v: to make accessible for a particular purpose (open).

months) n: a place or region beyond an
enclosure or boundary (outside). See also sie
and tide. doomp tu (23 months) n: a truck for transporting and dumping loose materials (dump truck). See also du-tu. du-tu (18 months) n: a truck for transporting and dumping loose materials (dump truck). See also doomp tu. ee ca (23 months) n: a vehicle used by the police force (police car). See also pee ca. fffff (16 months) n: a breakfast cereal (Froot Loops). fie (23 months) n: The number five. fye (22 months) v: To move in or pass through the air (fly). A game where the adult lays on the floor and puts his/her feet on the child's stomach and lifts the child up and makes them "fly." Nick's Mommy plays this game with him and her Daddy used to play it with her, too. huuuuu (22 months) v: to press tightly especially in the arms (hug). jus (14 months) n: the liquid or moisture contained in something (juice). ma-ma (21 months) n: a female parent (mom). Nicholas finally said ma-ma on March 27, 1999. This is the same day his brother, Austin, said it for the first time and Nick was just making fun of him! Oh well - Mommy was still happy!! Ma-ma bow. (23 months) sentence: I'm throwing the ball to Mommy. mmmm (16 months) n: the mature female of cattle (cow). Trying to say "mooo."
ooooooh (21 months) adv: used as a function word to express the negative of an alternative choice or possibility - in other words, "NO!", Nick's favorite word! ow-ow-ow (18 months) adv: in a direction away from the inside or center (out, out, out). pee ca (22 months) n: a vehicle used by the police force (police car). See also ee ca.

months) n: a chute with a slippery bed down
which children slide in play (slide). poo (22 months) n: 1. an eating or cooking implement consisting of a small shallow bowl with a handle (spoon). 2. an implement with two or more prongs used especially for taking up (as in eating) - commonly called a fork. pooo (23 months) n: being more than one in number but less than three (two). pra (18 months) n: a device composed of bristles set into a handle used for smoothing the hair (hairbrush). room (15 months) n: a vehicle moving on wheels (car). Nick's attempt at saying vroom. See also ca and ca-ee. see (18 months) v: to perceive by the eye. You say this when you want something. Nicholas points at whatever it is he wants and says "see." si (23 months) n: The number six. sie (20 months) n: a place or region beyond an enclosure or boundary (outside). See also da-tide and tide.

months) n: a bundle of firm stiff twigs or
fibers bound together on a long handle for sweeping and brushing
(broom, "sweep-sweep"). te-tuuu (19 months) n: Teletubbies - Nick's favorite TV show. tee (18 months) n: 1. an evergreen tree decorated at Christmas. 2. (20 months) a woody perennial plant having a single usually elongated main stem generally with few or no branches on its lower part (tree). tide (23 months) n: a place or region beyond an enclosure or boundary (outside). See also da-tide and sie. tuck (17 months) n: an automotive vehicle equipped with a swivel for hauling a trailer (truck). uh (19 months) v: to spring into the air (jump). Nicholas says this as he goes around the room attempting to jump. His feet don't actually leave the floor, but it is cute! uh-oh (15 months) interj: used to indicate that something bad has happened (usually that something fell or was dropped). Uh-oh ba-bow! (22 months) sentence: This was Nick's first joke. It doesn't really mean anything but he sure thought he was funny when he said it. He must have repeated it a hundred times in one night and laughed every time! Nicholas had Daddy and Mommy both laughing, too. Uh-oh fa. (20 months) sentence: Uh-oh, something fell (or was dropped) to the floor.

months) adv: into a higher position or level
(up-up). Said when Nicholas wants to get up into a chair or on the
furniture, etc. voo (17 months) n: an outer covering for the human foot usually made of leather with a thick or stiff sole and an attached heel (shoe). ya (20 months) adv: used as a function word to express assent or agreement (yes). |
