only seems like fifty!
The following
was written by Don on January 6, 1999 about his anniversary with Kay.
Both parties
were far away from home and very young. Both parties were in the U.S.
Airforce and met on a blind date in July of 1950 just after the North
Koreans crossed the 38th
parallel and started what has been called a police action and has
been now changed to the "forgotten war." The two parties
were not on the blind date together. Each was with another person.
The name of the female other person has long been forgotten. The male
other person was named Wayne Alan Krinjob and ended up as the best
man at the wedding of Donald and Kazma. Kazma was a not-so-strict
Catholic and Don was a non practicing anything and still is. They
were married by one Lt. Col. Sides in an Air Force Chapel and the
bride was given away by a handy friend by the name of T/Sgt. Kenneth
R. Smith. Kay was attended by her best friend, a fellow radio
operator, Airman 3rd
class Dolores King. Don, not being 21 yet, had to obtain permission
from his parents. Under Mississippi law, Kay was not required to get
parental permission as she was over 18. Her parents were notified of
the wedding after the fact. By today's standards this would be a
recipe for a very short marriage...
48 years, 4
kids, and 12 grandchildren later it is still going strong! :-)
