You are here: Photo Albums ARCHAMBOULT Antoine Antoine was a farmer who was born in Ontario, Canada in 1801. He met and married Caroline (ALCOCK) in 1852 in Canada. She was 33 years his junior. They were the parents of Joseph John, William, Fannie, George Antoine and Robert Stephen Saxby, all born in Canada, and Sophia who was born in Michigan. Antoine and Caroline and their young children immigrated to Michigan prior to 1870. Both Antoine and Caroline are buried in Michigan. The spelling of Antoine's last name is somewhat unclear. Records indicate that his father spelled his last name ARCHAMBAULT instead of ARCHAMBOULT. And apparently some of Antoine's children went by ARCHAMBAULT and some by ARCHAMBOULT. Most likely, this change was simply a spelling error on a document that stuck or perhaps the name was changed to Anglicize it after their emigration from French Canada to the United States. ~Based on a 1969 taped interview of Antoine's granddaughter, Margaret (ARCHAMBOULT) ARCHANGELI and from information obtained by cousin Cynthia van der Sys.
